Trekkers’ 1st Annual “Thomaston Trek” 5k and 10k Run/Walk event will be held on Saturday, June 7th, starting at the Lyman-Morse parking lot in Thomaston. This fun event will have two distance options for walkers and runners of all levels of experience.
Registration will be open from 8-8:30am and the race will begin at 9am. The $25 registration fee for the event includes a free event T-shirt and a complimentary post-run/walk pancake breakfast at The Slipway Restaurant. The pancake breakfast, hosted by volunteers and Trekkers students, will take place from 9-11am. Those not participating in the race can also enjoy the breakfast for a $5.00 donation.
Both the 5k and 10k routes will start and end at the Lyman-Morse parking lot near the Town Landing. The race course winds through the historic residential streets of Thomaston. Intersection volunteers will be positioned along the route to direct runners and walkers.
The event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to participate. Proceeds from the event will benefit Trekkers programs and students. Trekkers students who participate in the race will raise pledges to apply to their program fee, helping to fund their annual expeditions. Registration fees from the event will support the youth mentoring programs that Trekkers provides annually to more than 200 local students.
Trekkers is a nonprofit organization that serves 7th to 12th grade students from the six communities of RSU# 13. The program connects local youth with caring adults and builds valuable life skills through expeditionary learning, community service, and adventure-based education.
