ROCKLAND – Trekkers is inviting all 7th graders from Rockland, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Cushing, Owls Head, and St. George to apply to become a Trekkers student this Spring.

Trekkers is a non-profit organization that has offered youth mentoring programs to the midcoast for over 25 years. The 6-year program begins in 7th grade and lasts through 12th grade. Students go on an expedition towards the end of each year and meet regularly to plan them. They also go on daytrips and weekend treks throughout the year, where students do community service, activities from hiking to playing mini golf, learn about the environment, new cultures and perspectives, and as they get older, work through goals and strategies as they prepare for life after high school. Watch the video here.

This year, Trekkers will welcome one cohort of twenty 7th grade students. If more than twenty students apply, there will be a lottery system and a waiting list will be put in place if students opt out of the program.
