ROCKLAND, Maine – December 23, 2024 – Trekkers, a youth mentoring organization serving Midcoast Maine, is excited to announce the addition of new members to its Board of Directors. These new members represent a group with diverse skills and perspectives and a shared commitment to supporting the growth and development of area youth. The team is excited to open its doors to the following.

This month, we are pleased to welcome Jessie Davis to the Board of Directors, who most recently served as the Executive Director of the Strand. Jessie’s leadership and experience in the nonprofit sector, involvement in Trekkers as a former AmeriCorps member and current Trekkers parent, makes her voice representative of so many perspectives to our board.

In October, we welcomed Yvonne Thomas, who currently works at the Island Institute as a Senior Community Development Officer and also is part of the Center for Sustainable Communities. Yvonne’s extensive background in community development and education has been invaluable on our Programs Committee and we are excited as she steps into this new role as Board Member.

During the Spring, we were thrilled to add Melissa Carr, Director of Operations and CFO of Alford Lake Camp. Melissa’s expertise in operations and finance has helped to strengthen our organizational infrastructure. She also sits on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Additionally, we proudly welcomed two of our own students, Liam Burlingham and Anya Felton, now in the 12th grade, to the Board of Directors earlier this year. Their firsthand experience with Trekkers’ programs provides valuable insights and ensures that student voices are represented in our decision-making processes. Anya has also been an instrumental part of the 30th Anniversary celebration events and communications, helping to develop Trekkers’ #throwbackthursday history campaign on social media.
