sealsnacks
by Julie Crane of Thomaston
Artist Bio Maine native, Julie Crane, grew up adventuring the rugged coast and islands of Penobscot Bay. Her artwork often depicts creatures juxtaposed with the unseen in our midst. Microscopic elements such as phytoplankton often appear in amplified scale provoking the question of how the invisible impacts our world. |
Creative Process “My parents were dedicated to providing varied opportunities for exploring our coastlands. Many days were spent at Lincolnville Beach hunting for crabs and eel or fishing for rock bass on the breakwater. Encountering seals has been a favorite memory in Rockland Harbor. This offering attempts to celebrate the wonder of life swirling around us.” |
