The Owl and the Pussycat by Katharine A. Cartwright of Spruce Head

Artist Bio

Katherine A. Cartwright is an internationally recognized artist and art instructor whose paintings are included in over one hundred private and corporate collections. She received formal academic training in studio art from Kutztown University, The College of Charleston, and The Maryland Institute College of Art. Cartwright is the artist consultant for the large-scale mural installed on the Mid-Coast School of Technology exterior in 2019. She works from her studio in Spruce Head, Maine, where she resides with her husband, Dan Verillo. 

Artist’s Statement

My inspiration for this paddle came from the theme “journey,” and from my childhood love of the poem “The Owl and the Pussy-Cat” by Edward Lear. This romantic poem sparked my imagination once again. The medium for this painting is acrylic paint.
